Information Ruckly Stores
- Ruckly does not require an account to use the app.
- Profile settings, training preferences, saved routes, route pins, workout sessions, route history, imported GPX routes, and app preferences are stored by the app so Ruckly can provide route planning, workout tracking, training, and stats.
- Workout records may include activity type, time, distance, pace, elevation, steps, pack weight, calorie estimates, route completion status, scores, notes, tags, and related session details.
- Saved routes and pins may include route geometry, names, notes, tags, colors, downloaded offline map status, and point details you add.
Local Storage and iCloud
- Ruckly is local-first. App data is saved on your device.
- When iCloud is available for Ruckly, eligible profile, route, and session data may sync through your private Apple iCloud account using CloudKit so your data can stay available across your devices.
- If iCloud is unavailable or disabled, Ruckly continues to save data locally on your device.
Location and Route Data
- Ruckly uses location when you grant permission to track outdoor workouts, calculate distance and pace, show your position on the map, help with route guidance, and support route planning features.
- If you allow background location, Ruckly can continue tracking an active workout when the app is not on screen.
- Location data from your workouts and saved routes is stored with your app data so you can review routes, stats, pins, and history later.
- You can change location permissions at any time in iOS Settings.
Health, Motion, and Notifications
- Apple Health integration is optional. If enabled, Ruckly can read body weight for scoring and write completed workouts, distance, and active energy to Apple Health.
- Health data permissions are controlled by Apple Health and iOS Settings.
- Motion and Fitness access may be used for steps, movement context, and Smart Auto-Pause.
- Notifications and Live Activities may be used for workout status, route alerts, and training reminders when you allow them.
Third-Party Services
- Apple services may be used for iCloud / CloudKit sync, Apple Health, App Store distribution, system diagnostics, notifications, and Apple Maps location search.
- Mapbox provides map display, terrain and satellite map styles, route snapping, trail/path map features, and offline map tile downloads.
- Open-Meteo provides weather information. Ruckly may send approximate coordinates to request current or forecast weather for your area.
- These services process data according to their own terms and privacy practices.
How We Use Information
- To provide core app features such as workout tracking, route planning, saved routes, offline maps, stats, training suggestions, HealthKit export, weather, and route guidance.
- To sync your app data through your private iCloud account when CloudKit sync is available.
- To respond if you contact us for support.
- To improve reliability using diagnostics made available by Apple.
What We Do Not Do
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not use third-party advertising SDKs.
- We do not use your route, workout, HealthKit, or location data for third-party ad tracking.
- Ruckly does not read Apple Health data unless you choose to connect HealthKit features, and HealthKit permissions remain under your control.
Sharing and Exports
- Ruckly shares data only when needed to provide app functionality, when you choose to export or share something, when you contact support, or when required by law.
- GPX imports, route exports, screenshots, or share sheets are controlled by you and are only sent to destinations you choose.
- Support emails may include your email address and whatever information you decide to send us.
Retention and Deletion
- Your local Ruckly data remains on your device until you delete it in the app, reset app data, or remove the app.
- CloudKit-synced data remains in your private iCloud account until deleted through the app or managed through your Apple iCloud settings.
- Apple Health data written by Ruckly can be managed in the Apple Health app.
- You can contact us to request deletion of support communications we have received from you.
Children's Privacy
- Ruckly is not directed to children under 13.
- We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
